AN APPLE A DAY REALLY DOES KEEP THE DOCTOR AWA Print E-mail

Apples were Gold's Gym Vitamin of the year and its a good choice says Houston Personal Trainer.
HEB now has these REALLY CUTE little apples. NO they are not crabapple they are actually tiny little sweet real apples that taste delicious. Houston personal trainers have discovered that when a big apple won't do..then perhaps a few small ones will do the trick. These little apples were on hand for the Sunday Bears football game and everyone had to taste them and Texas personal trainer Melissa was happy to get her Houston guests to eat some fruit with their baked brie.

Some Carbs are still good to eat when losing weight Print E-mail
november_18_cabin_072Carbs are not all bad as many people believe they are. In fact, certain carbohydrates can improve a dieter's ability to lose weight. With an INCREASE of the carbs such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains, a person can lose as much as two pounds a week and feel fuller as well. These carbs have lots more fiber in them and so they help workout clients feel fuller and these individuals can then stick to the eating program.
Carrots, for example, even though they have a higher glycemic index than other vegetables such as broccoli or cabbage, they still are a non-starchy vegetable and help add fiber to the diet as well as vitamins and minerals. And corn, though it is starchy, is still a whole grain and so can be treated like eating a slice of whole grain bread. Potatoes are also starchy but offer fiber and potassium so potatoes such as a baked potato are still a better choice than a slice of bread.
Fruit has higher sugar however the sugar in fruit also comes with water and fiber so the fruit helps a person feel fuller with fewer calories than other sugary choices.
Whole grains such as oats and wheat can be enjoyed as well because they offer a substantial number of minerals with very low fat costs.oatmeal_and_whole_grains

Lear to Love V8 Juice and apples and Lose Weight FAST Print E-mail
Houston Personal Trainer Learns to Love V8 Juice and apples and Lose Weight
skyAt times, even Personal Trainers can have trouble with stubborn pounds and Houston Personal Trainer Melissa of Citiflex.com had a little extra from the holidays and decided to increase her veggie and fruit content like she is so fond of telling her clients to do. Because she is on the road a lot, it is harder for her to keep fresh veggies available so she decided to pack a cooler of V8 juice and take it with her for whenever she wanted something to drink besides water, as well as a handful of apples. VOILA the weight has just melted away and she is back to her normal weight after only a week! Increasing the servings of raw veggies and fruit REALLY WORKS and really adds a lot of vitamins and minerals to the body.

Throw away the diet pills to avoid yo yo dieting in Houston Texas Print E-mail
Diet Pills do not make for effective long term weight loss in Houston because they cause yo yo dieting.

DSC00157Think about people who are on the "Survivor" shows the past seasons and recall how most of them were able to lose  weight, significant amounts, while isolated and on minimal food. It seems that even though people THINK they need a lot of food to survive, in reality, it is more true that most individuals can survive on significantly fewer calories than what they actually are eating in a day. Most people will never be on a survivor show, but they can certainly learn about weight loss by noticing that when food options are taken away and a person has to eat restricted diets, they can and do lose weight.  Houston personal trainer Melissa, who trains her in home clients for Citiflex Personal training, feels that it is difficult for many of them to focus on reducing their calorie intake without feeling deprived. She has learned that the BEST way to reduce calorie intake with the least amount of suffering is to INCREASE eating to every two or three hours but have the foods eaten primarily consist of vegetables, fruits and nuts. Think about Martha Stewart's prison stay, and how her controlled food portions caused her to lose a lot of weight. Diet pills are not the answer for a lifetime of healthy weight loss. Personal Training clients in Houston who have taken diet pills are the least successful at permanant weight loss because their bodies have become "calorie hogs" in anticipation of the next diet pill induced starvation. Pay attention to balance, moderation, and common sense and eat a balance of foods..learn to love vegetables. Pumpkins are not just good for Halloween..the seeds are yummy toasted in a salad Print E-mail
pumpkin_patchPumpkins are a great health food and many people only eat it at thanksgiving in the form of a pie but it can be used for breads, pancakes and more..But food was not the reason Melissa was excited about pumpkins. It may seem like a simple pleasure but Houston Personal trainer Melissa has NEVER seen a real pumpkin patch. WELL...ALTON ILLINOIS was the setting of the most amazing field of pumpkins and she just had to get a photo. It was beautiful to behold..pumpkins as far as the eye could see..as well as funnel cakes (NO she did not eat any ...just enjoyed the smell), free apple cider, hay rides, a country band playing music, apple orchard for picking apples,  and lots of people enjoying the scenery and the seventy degree weather to pick out a pumpkin. IN FACT, Houston Personal trainer Melissa learned a neat tip for carving pumpkins that she has never tried..This tip comes directly from EMMA...who lives in UPSTATE NEW YORK ...Emma, a born and bred country girl, said that pumpkins should be cut open from the BOTTOM and the seeds should be scraped out from the bottom..then, carve out the face and put the bottom piece back on..the pumpkin will last much longer because it is the top that always rots first. The top of the pumpkin gets left alone.
Take the seeds and wash them..toast them and use them in a salad..they are delicious!
