Houston personal trainer Melissa was having a conversation with another trainer and she was laughing with him about how many people including herself had done workouts without ever "feeling the muscle itself get engaged".

When a muscle feels engaged, it flexes during the contraction phase of the workout and it feels pumped up after the exercise because the muscle has been doing the work of the movement.

Both trainers agreed that without the correct form, the movement often fails to accomplish the desired results.
