Why are some successful at weight loss while others fail to lose weight? |

What makes some individuals successful when taking on a challenge such
as losing weight while others fail? As a Houston Personal Trainer, I
spend a lot of time trying to learn the psyche of individuals who have
self sabotaging behaviors that prevent them from achieving their
Houston workout goals. In fact I just took a Personal Training
recertification class about that very thing. In a nutshell, I learned
that the "rewards" for over eating, even though the rewards may be
temporary, provide much satisfaction and the rewards outweigh the "punishment" of
eventually being overweight or fat. In order to help these men and
women personal training workout clients succeed at weight loss and
slimming, I have to communicate a great deal about behaviors that do
not contribute to success. This applies to so many things in life ...as
a point of discussion, I know a handsome guy, extreemly
intelligent, who has a good education, the finances to go
to college and was accepted at some excellent schools. However, the
"rewards" of financial independence after school, did not outweigh the
"rewards" of immediate gratification from drug use. This drug addiction
(which is similar to a food addiction) turned into such a monster that
he ended up in the court systems, and unfortunately even that has not
deterred him. It is hard to imagine that a person can self destruct
like that but it happens all the time.
One of my Houston Personal Training clients complains a lot that
her parents and friends, but mainly her husband eat food she cannot
have in front of her. She felt that it was not considerate. It may not
be considerate, I explained to her..but the fact is, that her
family does NOT have the difficulties of overweight to deal with as
THEIR challenge in life..but her good looking husband DOES have the
challenge of beautiful women flirting with him all day long. He has to
know how to say no to them just like she has to learn how to say no to
the excessive food intake. Each person has a different challenge..and
giving in to immediate gratification or blaming others is never the
answer. This beautiful girl has gained fourty pounds in two years
since marriage so her eating is way more than her body requires. When A
Houston in home personal training client takes ownership of her choices
regarding food, she will then start to be more successful. Those
Houston Personal Training clients who blame others for their lack of
success are always going to fail.
