Conservative approaches to achilles tendonitis and IT band injuries. |

Tendinitis affects many athletes and can be difficult because it is often many months before it heals. Houston Personal Trainer Melissa at Citiflex.com had "Achilles tendinitis" several years ago and at the same time her sister in Tennessee had the exact same problem.
The personal trainer used a conservative approach in Houston to avoid additional heel pain that she devised by doing research on the Internet. It involved doing specific stretches with yoga as well as with a foam roller, and it also involved wearing an inexpensive heel lift in her workout shoes to prevent over stretching of the tendon. In addition, she did not do any Houston workouts that aggravated the pain such as lunges, plyometrics or running and she took magnesium, approximately 250 mg a day.. She switched to doing cycling and swimming and cardio kick boxing for a cardiovascular workout and did walking the bleacher workouts for the legs to protect the injury and allow it time to heal. The healing process took a year. Today, Melissa has no tendinitis problems and she is not limited in her workouts.
Melissa's sister went to a doctor who prescribed a "boot" which she had to wear constantly for months, except for during showers. She was not able to workout during that time. Today, this sister still has tendinitis and is contemplating surgery and she has gained weight which worsens the problem of tendonitis. Obviously the pathology of the two tendinitis cases could be different, but the fact remains that the Internet can be very useful in helping a person with an injury become informed and prevent further injury as well as provide them with various conservative and inexpensive and sometimes vert effective treatments. It is important to do a lot of research and not to read just one article because all the internet information should be verified by authentic sources.
