If you are tired, depressed and gaining weight, intestinal problems may be to blame. Some call these problems IBS or irritable bowel syndrome and in the book IBS for Dummies, there are some known healthy alternatives to this problem that are easy to incorporate.

In a nutshell, too much refined or processed foods such as white bread and baked goods are fueling the growth of a type of intestinal yeast that, when overgrown, can cause gaps in the intestinal lining which causes intetinal leakage and can cause tiredness and depression.

Avoiding super processed foods is important but also, eating raw garlic, at least two cloves a day..will help keep yeast growth in check which in turn prevents the leakage.

Also, chronic stress causes  the stomach peristalsis to slow down but by eating yogurt, the momentum of digestion continues with help from the bacteria naturally in Yogurt.

Finally, Some of the digestive problems are caused by not enough folate. Eating servings high in folate three times a day will digestion of proteins to occur in the gut.

Mystic tan at E Z tan Houston... spray tips for looking naturally tan. Print E-mail
dsc00466Having a tan in Houston is important to me and I love the mystic tan in Houston Texas. Below these photos, is a detailed list of the steps I follow each time I do the spray mystic tan so that I achieve a natural looking finish. I am a personal trainer who is out in the sun every day and I am fair and develop freckles, so I do not want any more sun exposure and I always wear sunscreen. I use mystic tan to look dark and it is a great product for fair skinned people who want to look tan without the freckling or skin aging effects of the sun.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRM84AtwcjU  In this YouTube video you can see how I am still tan even after two weeks when I was on vacation in Colorado ..the tan lasts very well when on vacation

mystic_tan_photo

mystic_tan_on_personal_trainer_photo I use the mystic tan in Houston at E-Z tan AND I have gone to many other salons because I travel with my clients(I have tanned in Denver, in San Jose, in Austin Tx, In Los Gatos, in Salida Colorado etc.) and EZ Tan in Houston, Spring is by far the best tanning salon I have ever visited. I like the owners, they are very customer oriented and I love the friendliness of the front desk girls and guys as well. The mystic tan I use is very natural looking and fast. Above is a photo of me after having two mystic tans in three days. I would much rather have a mystic tan sprayed from a machine because I like the privacy, it is a lot cheaper than the hand sprayed mystic tan, and it has the same great results if a few steps are taken to keep the tan natural looking. To make sure the results are natural and appealing I have a routine that I go through to make sure my tan is great each time. Here is what I do to in a mystic tanning booth to make my mystic tan look great.
  • First make sure to go tan in the morning so the tan can stay on for six hours. Make sure to workout or shower first too because the tan comes off during that six hours if there is a lot of sweating or if you get caught in the rain! Make sure to take a shower to scrub off dead flaking skin because the mystic tan solution sticks best to moist skin. Paint toe and fingernails before tanning because the mystic tan solution will also tan the nails if they are unpainted. Use the pre tan lotion sold at E-Z tan to help skin be moist so that the tan spray will stick or use your own lotion to make sure the skin is moist.
  • Wear cotton sun dress or cotton sweats because the tanning solution is going to leave a residue that can stain synthetics. . Also the new solutions have a pleasant scent and the "tanning" is barely noticible now which is great.. Wear flip flops or clogs so that feet are not covered by socks when leaving and that way the tan stays on.
  • I wrap my hair in the towel provided because all my hair won't fit in the little cloth cap they provide..but I use that little cloth cap to cover my face because I can use a hand applied face tanner lotion later for my face and I do not like to breathe the tanning spray mist, even though studies so far show no problems with the spray. If the toes need to be protected, there are also booties for the feet. If it is the first tan, I do not cover my feet but after the first tan I cover them because the hands and feet tend to darken more than the rest of the body and I want the tan to be even all over.
  • Put blocking lotion on the knees and elbows. It seems that tanning spray goes on too heavily in rough skin areas and often looks too dark around the knee pads and elbow pads. The blocking lotion can also be used on the fingernails and toenails if there is no polish on them to prevent them from tanning because they can turn orange....
  • Enter the tanning booth and stand CLOSER to the sprayer nozzles as this gets the most solution on the body for a dark tan in one spray . Even if you are very pale it still looks good to get the most color possible for the cost of the tan and I am fair and it looks good. (I stand a lot closer than where you are supposed to stand and it works great). Be sure to move around a lot and turn from side to side to make sure the spray for the tan goes on evenly.
  • When exiting the booth, wipe tanning spray evenly over body paying close attention to neck, ankles, wrists and underarms making sure no area is dry and no area is dripping..use the mirror to look at back of legs too to check for drips. Use the wet wipes provided to remove blocking lotion from knees and elbows. I used to use the latex gloves provided over my hands to prevent them from getting tanning lotion on them when I smoothed my tan spray but I am allergic to latex so I kept getting a skin rash from the gloves which went away when I stopped using the gloves.
  • GO to the ladies room right after leaving the tanning room and use towel and soap to wash the palms of the hands and be sure to get wrists as well so that there is almost no tanning solution on them.  Remember you cannot shower for six hours so it is best to do the tan in the morning so you can shower before you go to bed(unless you have a job where you sweat a lot)  or to do it later at nite so you can shower in the morning. Try to keep tanning lotion on the top of the hands though. When finished washing, put towel in the laundry bin..the entire process takes only five minutes at the most and is fast and natural looking.
  • To get really dark, go tan again the third day. I have found that the tan continues to darken for thirty six hours..so the first time you mystic tan, wait at least two days before the second tan cuz you may not need it. Be sure to wash the tanning solution off with a mild soap after six hours because it is could be drying and irritating to the skin when left on longer than that. The second tan will make you VERY dark but it also drys the skin so be sure to use moisture lotion or use the tan extender sold at the E-Z tan salon. My mystic tan usually lasts six days. I LOVE how it does not damage the skin and how it looks natural and makes you look thinner as well. Some people like how mystic tan hides spider veins in legs but I like how it just makes me feel better in clothes. After the mystic tan has been showered off, It does not seem to leave marks on clothes.

Going running in Colorado and enjoying the beautiful state. Print E-mail

!little_girls_in_estes_park_dancing I could not sleep this morning because I was so excited to be in Denver, Colorado. I love visiting the city and had gotten up at five am to take a look around. The hotel had no workout facility so being the DIE HARD Houston personal Trainer that I am, I decided to go running. I LOVED the fact that it was not HUMID and it was clear and sunny.
The scenery in Colorado is spectacular in the summer and is such a nice break from the Houston Humidity. Even the weeds are unique and pretty.  I got pictures of flowers, statues, people running and cycling, and even a great photo of a roly poly bug on the sidewalk. I love how people in Colorado are always outside doing their Workouts. OH AND I LOVE how lots of women in Colorado have long, WILD CURLY HAIR just like I do...=). Back at the hotel when I had jogged for two hours i chowed down on some eggs and steak and fruit, Estes Park was the destination and it was GORGEOUS.  There was a fair going on up at Estes park and I got some photos of the crowds of people as well as some pictures of little girls dancing to a live band.
Colorado is a beautiful state and I am excited to get back to Salida and Buena Vista where I like to spend time writing my personal training book. Below is a photo of Colorado Personal trainer Melissa sitting outside in Colorado near Mount Princeton which is one of the 14000 foot mountains in Colorado.

E-Z TAN gets Houston Personal trainer

Melissa dark and tan with a  mystic spray tan!

mystic_tan_at_e_z_tan_houston
Houston Personal Trainer Melissa still has a tan in spite of the fact that she is naturally very fair. "I have been told that too much sun is not great for my skin..it seems like I just turn into one giant freckle" said the Houston trainer. Melissa is in the intense Houston, Texas sun every day training clients and also playing tennis, roller blading and running the bleachers. So she wears sunscreen and a head visor to protect her skin and goes to her favorite place and gets a MYSTIC TAN to keep a tanned look. "E-Z Tan has a package where you can have unlimited MYSTIC tans for a set price, and I go tan two days in a row and I can get really dark", said Melissa. "The MYSTIC  tan lasts about a week and to compare ...look at the picture up top of the page and compare it to this picture to see how much better the tan looks"! The neat thing about E-Z tan also is that they have figured out that clients do not like the smell of the mystic tan and have started providing a scent that masks the tanning smell. The NEW E-Z tan VANILLA smell is something which Sexy Houston Personal Trainer Melissa loves because now that spray tan smell that used to be unpleasant for the first few hours following a mystic tan session, has been eliminated. Houston in home personal trainer Melissa really likes all the girls at the front desk at E-Z tan because they are cheerful and friendly and know everyone by name. "I really recommend E-Z tan for convenience of tanning with MYSTIC tan in Houston, and to protect the skin from sun damage.(This Photo is of Houston Personal Trainer Melissa after two mystic tans.

Weight Training with a Personal trainer will not make women bulky but it will make muscles tone and sexy
.

How do workouts with weights accomplish that? Usually taller women have a easier time avoiding bulking up because their muscles are so long. But even tall women can get bulky if they eat too much food..too many calories. And shorter women are more likely to bulk up, particularly if they are overweight. The secret to losing weight and looking cut but not overly muscular is to pay attention to proper nutrition and to do proper weight training with the correct amount of weights and repetitions. With nutrition, the base calories consumed should be determined by the body weight times ten. For example, if a person is 120 pounds, the base calorie dsc00161
total would be 1200 calories a day. With more calories added for increased activity. The food should be eaten in small portions throughout the day and a food journal will help keep track of whether the intake is balanced in fruits, veggies, protein, milk and fat. Fat intake should only be 20 percent of the total calorie intake. Protein should be consumed at about a half to a gram of protein per pound of body weight and should particularly be eaten just after a weight training workout. Workouts should be at least three times a week with weights and to prevent bulking, the weights should be lighter but still heavy enough to cause muscle fatigue in order to be effective. It is helpful to go to the park or the neighborhood with some five or eight pound weights and do walking workouts where either the upper body is being worked (curls, front raises, lateral raises, punches, overhead shoulder press) or the lower body is worked with lunges...and these sets are done to total fatigue each time. Following the workout, which should last at least forty five minutes, protein should be eaten.

melissa_s_kyeeHouston In Home Personal Trainer Keeps Workouts Going when Injured!!
When Houston Personal Trainer Melissa had a roller blading accident that put her out of commission for eight weeks, she got creative with her fitness and workout routine in her Houston home. Before she fell, the sexy personal trainer workout at the gym included one hour of Weight training on a five day split routine, plus an hour of cardio every day. She was eating more protein(about 1500 Calories a day) to help build muscle and was keeping the cross training workouts with cardio to keep body fat low.
The injury forced Melissa to take off some time and "It was good to get a lot of organizing and continuing education credits done while incapacitated"the in home personal Trainer said. "Getting back my full fitness level now is very important to me and I do not want to go too long because I feel it will limit my potential". The one obstacle she has to overcome is now her fear of roller blading but she is first going to replace her wheels before she attempts that again. The sexy personal trainer is an expert at designing workout and weight loss programs for OTHER people with injuries in the past so it has been a cinch to attack her own exercise routine. Her plan to increase the cardio slightly and decrease the weight training has allowed her arm time to heal. Currently she is doing workouts to lose some weight without sacrificing muscle. She has cut back on her calories to and is doing kick boxing twice a week, Spinning twice a week, machine weights on the lightest level twice a week and walking every night for a half hour. Personal Trainer Melissa is already seeing results and has lost about four pounds. She feels tighter and her abs are getting more cut with the increased cardio, plus the cardio kickboxing really focus's on abs. "It is hard to punch with the one arm but other than that I can do most of the workout", Melissa said. I enjoy the class so much plus the other participants really motivate me!

Contracting for Hardwood Floor replacement In Houston can be tricky Print E-mail
Houston Personal Trainer Melissa has all hardwood floors on the ground level of her home and recently when the toilet leaked it damaged all the floors and they had to be replaced. She was able to find the exact same hardwood floors and even the same color as before and went with the contractor that supplied the medium priced bid of $15,000.  Though the Personal Trainer saw samples of the floor, and asked all the right questions, she still feels like the floor is not exactly what she expected. To help others who are replacing a wood floor, here is what she has learned about Hardwood floor replacement in Houston.
1) It is a messy job. The home is going to be difficult to navigate because of the glue that is used. Be sure the original glue is completely removed and this is the longest part of the process and can take days or even weeks. But before the new hardwood floor is put down, it is critical that the surface be smooth underneath. The contractor Personal Trainer Melissa used, had sheets of plastic over the glue when the removal process was in place so that he could walk around without sticking to the floor and then went back over the floor later to fill in the holes in the concrete (without bothering to remove the plastic because he said it was very thin). In the places where the plastic was just covered over it resulted in uneven surfaces..not a great idea to let this go if it happens..make the contractor remove ALL roughness including plastic sheeting.skye_twelve
2) Look at MANY samples of wood..the original hardwood floor had a nice grain to it and was a yellow tone but the new wood floor looks more "plastic" and there is less grain showing and it has a redish tone. It is not as elegant looking and more research on the wood to be used could have prevented this..do not assume that the exact same manufacturer will supply the exact same quality. Over years, the standard of workmanship could have diminished as it did in this case.
3) Repair all sources of potential water leaks BEFORE doing a hardwood floor replacement. For example, check the water purifier under the sink for leaks, the toilet supply lines, the dishwasher, and washer, the gutter system around the eves and even  the outdoor sprinkler system to make sure it is not aiming at the windows or weep holes where it can seep into the hardwood floor and damage it.
4)The wood floor will be smooth if the surface it is attached to is smooth..if it is capable of producing splinters at the joints..then the surface underneath was not properly prepared.
5) Make sure the trim for the hardwood floor is the proper size because some of the door jam trim made it impossible to open doors because it was too large.
6) If sections of the hardwood floor sound hollow or compress when walking on it, make sure to have the contractor come back and fill in this buckling area with additional glue. Some contractors know how to do this without drilling holes in the hardwood floor.
